Glendale Township, A.T.
With a cool breeze blowing, the lads in blue assembled on the ball grounds in Glendale Township to take on thier old friends, the Glendale Gophers and to cross bats with the upstart club, the Latin Stars.
The first match, held at high-noon, featured the Bees and Gophers - renewing thier friendly rivalry on the diamond. The Bees elected to defer the bat toss and elected to strike first. The top half of the first frame saw the the Bees tally no aces. As the frames continued, it was a tight contest with each club scoring few aces. Althought the Bees gave a mighty effort, they were not to be victorious. The final tally was Bees 3 Gophers 5.
The second match of the afternoon, held after a brief rest and chance for the lads in blue to get some refreshments saw action from the new club, the Latin Stars. The Stars are a new club to the league this season, and were playing this game to benefit one of the schools in the Territory. The match proceeded quickly, and in the end the Bees were out-matched on the ball field. The final tally reflected the Bees inability to field the ball and strike the pill to score aces. Final Tally: Latin Stars 14 Bees 4.
The Bees had a rough outing on the diamond, and are not scheduled for any more matches for another two weeks. Hopefully this extra time will allow for much needed practice and rest for those ballists on the club that are suffering from injuries sustained on the glorious field of play.
